Sage KnowledgeSync - Tips for Sage CRM
SalesLogix
Attaching Dynamic Files to an Alert
Message
Welcome to week #9 of the
KnowledgeSync Educational Bulletin for Business Partners
and clients who are using Sage KnowledgeSync with the
SalesLogix CRM application.
This week's question:
We have a client who uses KnowledgeSync to send out
information to their customers, and each email is
accompanied by a unique attachment. Each attachment is
referenced by a dynamic file path that is specified
within each customer record. Is it possible to
tell KnowledgeSync to pick up and deliver each of these
unique files to the corresponding customers?
Answer:
Yes - and this is definitely one of KnowledgeSync's
lesser-known functions. When choosing columns for a
query, you can choose a column that stores the name and
location of one or more files that you wish
KnowledgeSync to deliver to one or more recipients.
(Multiple files must be separated with commas.)
The file specifications
stored in this column must either use the actual server,
disk, and directory specification, or they must use the
UNC path name that points to the file location. (The
specifications must not refer to mapped drives.)
When you add a column
(containing one or more file specs) to a query, the
"Customized Name" of that column must be "attachment_files"
(case sensitive). The actual column name may be
anything.
When you use this query in an event, KnowledgeSync can
deliver the corresponding files to the recipients via
e-mail, web browser, or FTP. The files may also be
referenced within any of the "actions" that the event
executes
